KING CITY — Students of all artistic disciplines will have their works shown at the Salinas Valley Arts and Innovation Hub’s fourth annual South County Arts Empowerment Showcase on Friday, May 9, at Hartnell College’s King City Education Center.
From drawing and painting to music and filmmaking, all students who applied will have their work shown alongside other arts nonprofits and local partners. The event, from 3 to 7 p.m., takes place at 117 N. 2nd St. in King City.
“The organizers have been working hard to bring this event forward and are mentoring students through an internship opportunity,” according to a press release. “They’re all students at Hartnell College, but their majors vary. They all believe in the arts’ power to unite the community. They focus on marketing, community outreach and event organizing and running.”
One of the organizers, Marnie Glazier, drives the need for the arts in the community and expresses her deep gratitude to the community for keeping this event alive.
“Especially today, when empathy and creative solutions are so vitally needed, we’re extremely grateful to our supporters and community for standing up for the arts and empowering emerging creatives,” Glazier said.
