To the Editor:

On Nov. 5, Measure T will be asking for your “Yes” vote. This measure is to increase the sales tax in King City by 1/2 of a cent. This small increase is projected to bring an estimated $1.2 million a year for 12 years starting April 1, 2025.

King City has moved forward with downtown improvements, new sidewalks and gang control measures. However, all the funds for these improvements came from grants. Grants are now drying up, leaving our city in need of stable income to keep moving forward.

If this measure passes by over 50%, King City can fund expensive street improvements, upgrade our parks and recreation buildings and add an additional resource officer to cover the schools.

This tax will be funded by travelers as well as citizens. A lot of the revenue will come from gas sales.

As a sales tax, this means that the cost is spread to more than just property owners like the payment for a bond does.

Join us in voting “Yes” on this important 1/2-cent increase to keep King City moving forward.
