Alton Richard Taylor, Sr. “Red”, born January 11, 1933, in San Bernardino, California to Hobart and Eva Taylor.
Red passed away April 30, 2019, he was 86 years old. He lived life to the fullest and had many great stories of causing trouble throughout the state. True to his competitive spirit, he loved playing Horseshoes and Shuffleboard.
As a veteran of the Korean War, Red worked as a member of the Steelworkers Union for almost 60 years. After retirement, he proudly nailed his work jacket to the wall of his home and relished retirement as a staple in the King City community for 50 years, active in coaching sports, Silver Kings and Queens and keeping the golf course busy. A loyal friend, you could count on him to cook a large pot of beans for any event and he enjoyed visiting friends every morning at Donut King.
Red is known for being a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his children Alton R. Taylor Jr. (Brett Taylor, Andrew Taylor), Annette Aldape (Jessica Sant’Anna, Christina Marquez), Christie Bauer (Jeffrey Bauer, Allison Bauer, Kara Bauer); Jeff Cook, Valerie Cook; sisters Lorna Whitaker, Susie Buchko and Scruffy his mongrel. He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Taylor, brothers AJ Taylor and Dave Taylor. Loved by many and a pain in the neck to all, he kept his sense of humor to the end.
Family will receive friends at San Lorenzo Park in the Portola building on Friday May 31st, 2019 from 12:00-3:00 p.m.
