111th California Rodeo Salinas postponed until September

SALINAS — The 111th California Rodeo Salinas has been postponed until September, following a recommendation from the rodeo’s Covid-19 Response Committee.

California Rodeo Association’s Executive Board voted unanimously to move the 2021 rodeo from July 15-18 to now Sept. 23-26. The Professional Bull Riding event will take place Wednesday, Sept. 22.

“The current Covid-19 situation in Monterey County and the Central Coast and new guidance from state and local governments have led us to believe that postponing our Rodeo is the right thing to do at this time,” said Rodeo President Dave Pedrazzi.

Details about tickets and other rodeo activities have not yet been finalized.

According to a press release, the Covid-19 Response Committee meets regularly to review new information regarding the virus and will continue to evaluate other events that the California Rodeo Association hosts.

The Jan. 7 announcement comes after the not-for-profit organization canceled the 2020 rodeo due to ongoing restrictions related to the coronavirus.
