CLEANUP DAY

GREENFIELD — A Greenfield Reuse, Recycle and Cleanup Day is planned for Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until boxes are full, at the Greenfield Corporation Yard, 920 Walnut Ave. The event is only open to local residents, who can dispose of such items as general garbage, electronics, TVs, computers, metal appliances and metal and steel items, including refrigerators and freezers, for free. Furniture, yard waste and wood will not be accepted.


DONATION DRIVE

SOLEDAD — A Goodwill Donation Drive is set for Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the California Gourmet Pizza, 235 West St., in Soledad. Donated items will not only help Goodwill create jobs, but also raise funds for South County Animal Rescue (SCAR). In addition, Soledad High School’s cross country team is earning community service hours and experiencing a team-building opportunity during the event. Items that will be accepted include: clothing, linens, shoes, boots, purses, jewelry, household items (dishes, glassware, utensils, lamps and small appliances), books, textbooks, CDs, videos, DVDs, games, sporting goods, computers, computer software and equipment, and electronics (TVs, radios, stereos and phones).


FAMILY SCIENCE DAY

SALINAS — Hartnell College presents its 18th annual STEAM Family Science Day on Saturday, April 20, on the Main Campus, 411 Central Ave., in Salinas, in the Willard Lewallen STEM Center. The STEAM Family Science Day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event is open to the public, and parking will be accessible on campus. Some of the activities and services offered include: hands-on activities, health screenings, music, science demonstrations and more. Highlights include a meet and greet with astronaut Dr. Jim Newman and world champion skier/entrepreneur Carmela Cantisani. Hartnell College student clubs, staff and faculty will highlight the fantastic world of science to inspire the next generation of scientists in the Salinas Valley. BONUS BRIEF: ADDITIONAL FLIGHTS

MONTEREY — Monterey Regional Airport has announced second nonstop flights between MRY and three destinations: Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN) and San Diego (SAN). These additional nonstop flights are an increase in daily frequency to the three markets. The additional MRY/DEN service began on April 10, and is provided by United Airlines. The additional MRY/SAN service began on April 17, and is provided by Alaska Airlines. The additional MRY/DFW service will begin on May 6, and is provided by American Airlines. Tickets for these three additional routes are on sale now.
