KING CITY ā€” A local wreath-laying ceremony for Wreaths Across America Day took place Saturday at King City Cemetery.

Several speakers, including Fort Hunter Liggett Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Eric Rupp, King City Mayor Mike LeBarre and event organizer Kathy Imamura, addressed a packed crowd of residents, retired veterans and high school students from Soledad, Greenfield and King City ROTC programs.

Attendees participated in the Dec. 16 event by placing wreaths on more than 400 veteran graves.

Parkfield 4-H also joined in Wreaths Across America by placing wreaths at Todd Cemetery in Parkfield on Saturday.
