Donations poured in last week during the Goodwill Donation Drive hosted by the Community Food Pantry of King City, which earned $3,900 from the fundraiser to support its food distribution program for local residents in need.

Veterans Day Parade features local veterans

The Salinas Annual Veterans Day Parade brought many local veterans as well as high school groups, such as Soledad High School NJROTC and Gonzales Marching Band, to honor veterans on Nov. 11 at Downtown Main Street.

COLOR BLAST

Chalone Peaks Middle School hosted a Color Run on Nov. 3 with more than 120 participants and volunteers, including students and families from all the King City schools.

Over the moon

Kevin Roberts, a fourth-grade teacher at Santa Lucia Elementary School, recently brought lunar samples taken from the Apollo moon missions to the King City school, providing students with a rare chance to view moon rocks and soils up close.

King City resident Charles DeSchepper was recently named Veteran of the Year for 2017 by the Monterey County Military and Veterans Affairs Office Advisory Commission, which honored him last Saturday at the annual ceremonial dinner in Monterey.
