Community members gathered Friday afternoon to celebrate the completion of King City’s new entrance sign and landscaping project at the corner of Broadway Street and San Antonio Drive, one of the city’s main intersections.

A new microfilm scanner for the King City Branch Library of the Monterey County Free Libraries is on order and expected soon thanks to a generous grant and donations from more than 50 residents and businesses.

King City High School student Teagan Soares was named 2018 Miss Salinas Valley Fair last weekend after two days of competition.

Students trickled out of scattered classrooms as the clock struck 10 a.m. last Wednesday, where King City High School staff and security were in position to ask why the youth were leaving their classrooms. Only 14 students answered with their intent to participate in the National Walkout Day, and were directed to go to the cafeteria.
