SALINAS VALLEY — The track and field league season has begun for all South Monterey County teams.

Last Saturday was the Eagle Classic Track Invitational at Everett Alvarez High School in Salinas, where Gonzales sophomore Juan Acosta placed first in the varsity long jump.

On Tuesday, Greenfield hosted Gonzales, Soledad, Pacific Grove, Pacific Collegiate and St. Francis for a PCAL Cypress meet, while King City traveled to Salinas to compete against Notre Dame and Palma.

Next, King City will host the 77th Annual King City Invitational on Saturday, April 2, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
