KC frosh win Wildcatz tourney

Free-throw shooting and overall team play earned the King City Ponies basketball team the Watsonville Basketball Tournament crown.

Football players earn honors and awards

The high school football season may have ended almost a month ago but players from South County are still receiving awards and honors. King City and Soledad high schools recently ended the season with awards nights at their respective school sites.

With the league seasons a month away, local high school basketball teams are traveling near and far to play in non-league contests.

South County soccer teams prep for league play

Local girls and boys soccer teams began the second week of non-league play last week in preparation for league play that will start in January.

Mustangs start season with wins

The King City High varsity boys basketball team began the non-league schedule with a pair of wins to start the season at 2-0. King City beat South County rival Gonzales High 56-48 at home in overtime, and cruised by visiting Coast Union, 35-15.

KC girls 1-2 to start season

Last week was a challenge for the King City Lady Mustangs as the fell to two strong programs in Seaside and Templeton to fall to 1-2 in non-league play.
