GONZALES — The Gonzales High varsity baseball team was swept in a two-game series last week by the league-leading Pacific Grove Breakers. The Spartans lost 1-0 on the road to the Breakers and fell 5-1 at home in the second game.

In the first game Pedro Villacana struck out five in the pitching loss. Villacana contributed a basehit for Gonzales.

The Gonzales JV lost 2-1 to the Breakers  despite quality pitching by Alex Morga and Michael Madera.

In the second game Gonzalo Villagomez went 3 x 3 and played a solid game at third base for the Spartans. Xando Mendez started the game at pitcher for Gonzales.

The Spartababes were beaten 8-4 on Thursday by the visiting Breakers. Michael Duby took the pitching loss for Gonzales.

The Gonzales varsity is 3-7 in MTAL play and 5-8 overall. The Spartans  hosted the Anzar Hawks yesterday and will play in San Juan Bautista tomorrow.
