KING CITY — Sol Treasures, the nonprofit arts organization dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of South Monterey County, has accepted the resignation of its long-serving executive director, Jeff Hinderscheid.
After years of leading Sol Treasures programs with his trademark ebullience, Hinderscheid plans to pursue an exciting new venture in the form of Center Stage Theatrical Productions, his new theater company.
“Jeff has devoted years to Sol Treasures, first as a board member and then as our executive director. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished during his tenure with us,” said Sol Treasures Board President Jessica Riley. “Jeff’s passion and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the vibrant arts community here, and we wish him success on this exciting new project. We plan to collaborate with his new business on Sol Treasures theater programming.”
The change in leadership will have no impact on “Something Rotten!,” the Sol Treasures musical production directed by Hinderscheid and scheduled to open on March 21 at the Robert Stanton Theater.
Sol Treasures has appointed Maria Turner, the organization’s long-time operations manager, to the role of interim executive director.
Turner has been an integral part of the Sol Treasures team for five years. She has worked alongside Hinderscheid and the Board to advance the mission of the organization, and most recently she represented Sol Treasures in the Alliance on Aging’s Trashion Show.
“Maria has been the cornerstone of Sol Treasures operations, and we have full confidence in her ability to lead the organization through this period of change,” said Riley. “Her unwavering commitment to our mission will ensure that Sol Treasures continues to bring high-quality arts programs to South Monterey County.”
Sol Treasures, based in King City, plans to continue its efforts to support local artists and foster community engagement. With Turner’s leadership, the organization will continue building on its successful track record of cultural offerings, including its well-attended Día de los Muertos parade and celebration, hosted in partnership with Tina Lopez and La Cocina.
Congratulations to Jeff, Maria and everyone at the amazing Sol Treasures!!! Wishing you all the very best and looking forward to what comes next.
