KING CITY — King City High varsity boys’ soccer team defeated the Sequoia Ravens, 4-1, last Saturday to win the Central Coast Section Division IV Championship.

The Feb. 26 victory at home came after the No. 1 seeded Mustangs first took on Latino College Prep on Feb. 19, winning 2-1, and then battled Summit Prep on Feb. 23 with a score of 3-1 during the playoffs.

This is the first CCS championship win for the Mustangs since the 1986-87 soccer season.

On Tuesday, King City (13-5-1) competed against Delhi High (15-1-5) in the first round of the state championships. The Mustangs blanked the Hawks, 3-0, and have advanced to the semifinals.

King City will now face Live Oak High (16-3-3) on Thursday, March 3, at 5 p.m.
