KING CITY — King City High School Mustang boys’ soccer team has qualified for Wednesday’s Central Coast Section (CCS) semifinals with a win last Saturday in the quarterfinal round.

The Mustangs (#2 seed) beat #7 seed Valley Christian by a 3-0 score on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.

Esteban Acosta led the Mustangs with three goals, and Victor Medina added a solo goal. Deon Rodriguez and Jesus Montoya were credited with assists.

King City won its 10th game of the season to improve to 10-6-4 and will host the North Salinas Vikings (#6 seed, 10-8-3) on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in the CCS Division IV semifinals.

Last Saturday the Vikings defeated the #3 seed Harbor Pirates by a 2-1 tally.

The winner of the King City/North Salinas contest will play the winner of Monterey (#4) or Del Mar (#1) on Saturday, Feb. 24, in a site to be determined.
