‘Sip, Savor and Support Wine Trail’ fundraiser set for this weekend

Proceeds to benefit Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County

SALINAS VALLEY — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. In support of this yearly event, the Breast Cancer Assistance Group of Monterey County (BCAG) will be the recipient of funds raised through its second annual Sip, Savor and Support Wine Trail fundraiser set for Oct. 27-29.

“Support from our local wineries and tasting rooms has been vital to BCAG’s ability to offer financial assistance to local women with breast cancer,” said Kim Allen, BCAG president. “BCAG is extremely appreciative of the wineries who are contributing again in this event and to the wineries who are participating for the first time.”

So far, 25 wineries throughout Carmel, Carmel Valley, Monterey, Salinas and South Monterey County have committed to the second annual event.

Participating wineries include Odonata Wines, Galante Vineyards, Dawn’s Dream Winery, Manzoni Vineyards, Holman Ranch, Vin Bar Carmel, Puma Road Winery, Wrath Winery, Pessagno Winery, Austin Harlow, Pelio Estate Wines, Lepe Cellars, Folktale Winery, Corral Wine, Twisted Roots Winery, De Tierra Vineyards, Scheid Vineyards, McIntyre Vineyards, Blair Estate Wines and Blue Fox Cellars.

Each participating winery will donate a percentage of sales generated during the three-day event. All proceeds raised will be used for financial grants to help Monterey County breast cancer patients to pay for basic living expenses, including rent, food and transportation, while undergoing treatment.

“As a breast cancer survivor, I am thrilled to once again be a part of this wonderful and worthwhile event,” said Alix Bosch, co-chair of Sip, Savor and Support Wine Trail. “The support of our local wineries has been incredible, and we are grateful for their continued commitment to our cause.”

BCAG is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization of breast cancer survivors that provides grants to local breast cancer patients who are experiencing financial difficulty as a result of their disease.
