KING CITY — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a San Lucas man last Sunday.

Monterey County Sheriff’s Office detectives, with the assistance of the SWAT teams from the sheriff’s department and the Salinas Police Department, served two search warrants Friday morning in King City.

One warrant was served in the 600 block of Sycamore Street, and the other was in the 300 block of Division Street.

Following the searches, two suspects in the case, Samuel Tirado Ortiz and Andy Mendez, both from King City, were arrested.

On Sept. 5, around 3:35 a.m., gunshots were heard in the 53000 block of Julius Street in San Lucas. Sheriff’s deputies responded and found Ricardo Deleon, 45, dead from a gunshot wound.

The murder weapon and vehicle involved in the crime were located and recovered, the Sheriff’s Office said.
