KING CITY — A Halloween decorating contest is being hosted by King City Recreation Department. Registration is free, with the contest to be held Oct. 21 between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Judging will be based on creativity, originality, design and layout. Winners will be notified by phone. MONTEREY COUNTY — Students at Hartnell Community College who live in South Monterey County will find it easier to travel the county via MST bus service. In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, anyone with a Hartnell student ID will be able to ride free on any MST bus at any time throughout the 2020-21 academic year.


SOLEDAD — The west entrance of Pinnacles National Park reopened last Friday, Sept. 25. All park trails, however, remain closed except for the Bench and Sycamore trails due to high fire danger and the overloading of the national wildland fire response system. The west unit of the park located near Soledad will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily.
