EAGLES GROUNDED

SALINAS VALLEY — King City Young Eagle’s flight event for local youth has been canceled after multiple postponements due to Covid-19. With no end in sight for the shutdowns and health restrictions, organizers Bill Sabo and Tom Hail were forced to cancel the 2020 event. There were more than 50 youth and parents from King City and Greenfield who wanted to participate in the flights. Sabo and Hail said they plan to host a 2021 event.

COMMUNITY POLICING

SOLEDAD — Soledad Police Department is highlighting community policing efforts by its officers on social media. Rather than simply going out to enforce infractions and issue tickets or arresting suspects, the purpose of community policing is to boost community morale by assisting residents. One such instance highlighted on Sept. 13 was Officer Fernando Flores assisting a driver at the Valero gas station. A driver hit the curb while pulling into the station, which caused the tire to pop. Flores arrived to help with changing the tire.
