MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Free Libraries has invited county residents to take a photo of their decorated or carved pumpkin and post it on Facebook or Instagram with the libraries tagged. Participants have a chance to win a prize as they get into the Halloween and autumn spirit. The contest ends Oct. 31.


NEW FIREFIGHTERS

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Fire Department announced Oct. 15 that new firefighters Chantel Duliba, Sebastian Burch and David Vega completed their probationary year. They spent the past 12 months studying, drilling and working to meet the expectations of their captains. They are noted as being the city’s first full-time firefighters.


SHARE CENTER

SALINAS — The new housing navigation center for SHARE Center Operations is under construction and planned to open April 2021. The community has named it the SHARE Center, which stands for Salinas Housing Advancement Resources and Education. Community input meetings were held in October 2018. Now that the time has come to choose an operator for the SHARE Center, organizers are asking for community input on how the facility will operate. The SHARE Center is a partnership of the City of Salinas and County of Monterey and will be located at 855 E. Laurel Drive in Salinas.
