SOLEDAD — A Centennial Friday Night Cruise will take place Sept. 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with a Mexican Independence theme. Drivers should meet at the Front Street clock tower in Soledad. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Fourth of July and fireworks budgets for 2022. Food and drinks will be on sale.


GONZALES — Monterey County announced this week that Gonzales and Moss Landing were the first communities in the county to surpass 90% vaccination rate of residents 12 and older who have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.


KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will be hosting its monthly luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 11:30 a.m. at King Kora Restaurant, 611 Canal St., in King City. The guest speaker will be Mark Meuser, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in 2022. His topic will be “What Republicans must do to win in California in 2021 and 2022.” Everyone is welcome.
