MOVIES IN THE PARK

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Recreation Department will host another Movies in the Park on Friday, Sept. 22, featuring “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” The free event begins with food sales at 6:30 p.m. followed by the movie at 7:15 p.m. at Patriot Park, 1351 Oak Ave., in Greenfield. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for sitting. RIBBON CUTTING

SOLEDAD — Soledad Unified School District will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Family Resource Center on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 441 Main St. (next to Main Street Middle School) in Soledad. The new facility provides vital resources, education and support services to families in the District. The ceremony will offer an opportunity for the community to learn about the Center’s valuable services. There will also be music, food and a raffle.


LISTENING SESSION

CHUALAR — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and his District 3 office will be hosting a series of listening sessions throughout South Monterey County. The first session will take place Monday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. at Chualar Union Elementary School, 24285 Lincoln St., in Chualar. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and concerns about the community and county government.


BONUS BRIEF: CHILDREN GRANT

SALINAS — The independent nonprofit Partnership for Children (PFC), which increases access to medical care for children with serious illnesses and supports their families, has received a $139,000 grant from Hospice Giving Foundation. PFC will use the funds to provide critical services for children living with serious illness and their families, including transportation to medical care in the form of rides and gas assistance, financial assistance for basic living expenses, grocery support and practical supports, such as diapers and car seats.
