KING CITY — The King City VFW Annual Veterans Day BBQ is set for Saturday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drive-thru barbecue at 599 Bitterwater Road includes tri-tip, beans, salad and roll. Tickets are available in advance at the King City Chamber of Commerce office, 200 Broadway St., Suite 40, during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
VETERANS PARADE
SALINAS — The 13th Annual Monterey County Veterans Day Parade is set for Saturday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. in Oldtown Salinas. Last year’s parade was the biggest to date, with more than 100 participants and an estimated 25,000 spectators lining Main Street in Salinas.
RENTAL DISCUSSION
GREENFIELD — City of Greenfield will host a Rental Registration Open Discussion on Monday, Nov. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 7 p.m., at the Greenfield Library Branch, 315 El Camino Real, in Greenfield. During the morning and evening sessions, residents (specifically renters and landlords) can join city staff for a discussion on a potential rental ordinance. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
BONUS BRIEF: FALL LECTURE
KING CITY — The deadline is approaching for reservations to the “Pearl’s Diary” event planned for Saturday, Nov. 18, by the San Antonio Valley Historical Association. The event is part of the Fall Lecture and Annual Meeting being held in the social hall of St. Mark’s Church in King City at the corner of Bassett and South Third streets. It will begin at 1 p.m. with a luncheon followed by a talk at 2 p.m. The public is invited. Featured speakers will be Marvin Daniels of Pismo Beach, Dan Daniels of King City and Redding, and Marlene Daniels Thomason of Parkfield. The siblings have been working for nearly four years to transcribe 45 years of entries in the diaries of their mother, Pearl (Rist) Daniels.
