FIRE HYDRANT MAINTENANCE

GREENFIELD — Greenfield firefighters are flowing fire hydrants in neighborhoods as part of an annual maintenance program intended to make sure local fire hydrants are ready if they are needed during an emergency. During maintenance checks, fire hydrants are flowed to make sure accumulated rust, minerals, sand and rocks are removed from the water system, which occasionally will cause water in homes to become discolored, the fire department warned. If this happens, run a faucet until the water is clear. Anyone with questions or concerns can call 831-674-5484.
