MURAL RIBBON CUTTING

KING CITY — Sun Street Centers will host a ribbon cutting for its new mural at the King City location on June 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. Pre-diversion program students, STEPS students and community members led by the Arts Council for Monterey County’s artist Bryan Perez-Lustre worked on the mural. OFFICER OATH

KING CITY — The community is invited to a Peace Officer Oath ceremony for King City Police Department personnel on June 3 at noon outside City Hall, 212 S. Vanderhurst Ave. Police Chief Keith Boyd, Sgt. Joshue Partida, Sgt. Ryan Kenedy and Officer Jose Magana will be sworn into their respective positions. Masks and social distancing will be required during the ceremony, which will also be streamed live on the KCPD Facebook page.


THEATRE GRANT

SALINAS — ARIEL Theatrical has received a two-year grant award from the Harden Foundation to support its return to theatre education, performance and outreach after more than a year of pandemic restrictions. ARIEL Theatrical, located at 320 Main St. in Salinas, has been providing programs for youth for more than 35 years, helping them learn Accountability, Respect, Integrity, Excellence and Leadership (ARIEL) in life and on stage.
