OPEN HOUSE

SALINAS — Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley will be celebrating its one-year anniversary at its new location with an Open House Celebration on Thursday, Jan. 18. The event, from 5 to 7 p.m., will take place at 534 Abbott St. in Salinas and include a Chamber Mixer and mural unveiling. RSVP by calling 831-758-6325.


TRUTH HEARING

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Board of Supervisors will host a special Truth Act hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 4:15 p.m. inside its Chambers, 168 W. Alisal St., in Salinas. As required by law, the governing body of any county or city in which local law enforcement has provided the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency access to an individual during the previous year must provide information to the public about ICE’s access to individuals and receive and consider public comment. The public is welcome to attend this meeting in person, and it will be streamed live online at co.monterey.ca.us.


PIZZA WITH THE POLICE

KING CITY — King City Police Department is kicking off the New Year with a community pizza gathering. The Jan. 24 event, dubbed “Pizza with the Police,” is the perfect time to eat, mingle and get to know local police officers. Residents can ask questions, bring up concerns or give a compliment to their favorite officer. This event is taking place from 5 to 6 p.m. at King City Pizza, 500 Canal St.


BONUS BRIEF: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

SALINAS — Food Bank for Monterey County is looking for volunteers to help with sorting donations, packing and assisting at food distribution sites. Help is needed at 353 W. Rossi St. in Salinas, Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Call 831-758-1523 for more information.
