UNITED AWARDS

MONTEREY COUNTY — United Way Monterey County is currently accepting nominations for its LIVE UNITED Awards. The 46th annual community service awards honor volunteers who made significant contributions in Monterey County in the areas of Education, Human Service, Youth Volunteer, Community Service and Lifetime Achievement Award. Organizations or individuals may nominate an individual or a team at unitedwaymcca.org/lu-awards. Deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 25, and each nominee will be individually recognized during the awards ceremony in April.


COLLEGE VACCINES

SALINAS — Hartnell College will host a Covid-19 vaccination clinic for employees and students from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, in the Student Center, Building C, at the Main Campus in Salinas. The Visiting Nurses Association will staff the clinic in collaboration with the Community Foundation for Monterey County and the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. The Moderna vaccine will be administered. No appointments or pre-registration are required. Students and employees who are eligible for a booster are urged to take advantage of this opportunity, as well.


FIREWORKS BOOTHS

KING CITY — Applications for Fourth of July fireworks booths in King City are now available at the City of King’s website kingcity.com, under “Documents and Forms – City Manager.” The deadline for submitting applications to City Hall is March 3 at 5 p.m. Three permits will be available for nonprofit organizations to utilize for community fundraising. If the City receives more than three applications, permits will be awarded through a lottery-selection process. Fireworks may be sold from June 28 through July 4. The lottery to select applicants will take place March 22. Contact City Hall at 831-386-5925 for more information.


BONUS BRIEF: LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Business Council is kicking off the 2022 Leadership Monterey County program on Feb. 25. A diverse cohort of 30 participants will learn about the critical businesses and organizations that create a thriving economy in the county. The 10-month program is designed to educate local leaders from different industries and to bring awareness and advocacy to all the significant economic impacts within the county.
