ROAD CLOSURE

KING CITY — Union Pacific Railroad will be closing Lonoak Road at the railroad crossing at First Street in King City for railroad repairs, beginning at 6 a.m. on Aug. 22 through Aug. 27. There will be no through traffic on a 24-hour basis for the duration of the closure. All traffic must use the designated detour. COMMUNITY CONVERSATION

SOLEDAD — City of Soledad and El Pajaro Community Development Corporation are inviting local businesses for coffee and a conversation with the Community and Economic Development team on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 8 a.m. in the Council Chambers at Soledad City Hall, 248 Main St. There will be information provided about pop-ups, business licensing and upcoming trainings on business management. BOOK SIGNING

KING CITY — King City Chamber of Commerce and Hestia Coffee will host a book signing on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. Howard Strohn and John and Karen Jernigan, authors of “Images of America: King City,” will be available to sign the book and for discussion. The coffee shop is at 320B Broadway St. in King City.


BONUS BRIEF: POP EVENT

SOLEDAD — Soledad Fourth of July Committee will present the Pop Event on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at California Gourmet Pizza, 235 West St., in Soledad. This is a free event for the public, featuring many vendors, food and fun for the entire family. Proceeds will go toward the 2023 fireworks show.
