CITIZEN PLAN
MONTEREY COUNTY — A comment period is open for residents to give input on the County of Monterey’s Citizen Participation Plan, which sets guidelines for public participation in local programs funded by Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This funding is usually in the form of Community Development Block Grants, which serve low- and moderate-income areas. Public noticing is important to make residents aware of projects and presentations. Community Development Block Grant information and presentations are usually given before the Monterey County Board of Supervisors and are publicly noticed. Proposed changes to the current plan will change or expand outreach efforts, such as adding social media as part of the noticing process, updating online information and changing noticing timeframe to match HUD requirements. Review the Citizen Participation Plan document at tinyurl.com/57usftn9. Comments or questions can be directed to Dawn Yonemitsu, management analyst, at ho*************@co.us or 831-755-5387. A public hearing to finalize changes is set for Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m.
