BUS STOP

GONZALES — Monterey-Salinas Transit has introduced a new bus stop that departs from Fifth Street and Gabilan Court in Gonzales. The line 23 service to Salinas starts at 6:43 a.m. and continues every hour until the last trip at 7:43 p.m. For those used to catching a bus in front of the Gonzales Shopping Center, that service is only for line 23X, which departs at 5:49, 7:17 and 8:17 a.m. to Salinas. TIN HEARTS

KING CITY — As part of its Free in ’23 program, Sol Treasures in King City invites the community to join instructor and artist Debra Cobb to create Mexican Tin Hearts on Friday, Aug. 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. After creating these hearts, participants can display them at the next gallery exhibit show, “Dia De Los Muertos.” To register for the class, which is for adults and children ages 10 and up, call 831-386-1381 or email [email protected].


WELLNESS KITS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Free Libraries is introducing new Mental Wellness Kits for teens and children this month. Each kit is a backpack that contains books and activities or comfort objects to help youth through challenging issues, such as body image, depression, self-esteem, gender identity, anxiety and more. The kits were funded by the Foundation for Monterey County Free Libraries through a grant from the Community Foundation for Monterey County. Visit a local library branch for more information.


BONUS BRIEF: PET FOOD

GREENFIELD — Food Bank for Monterey County will host a pet food distribution for South Monterey County residents only on Friday, Aug. 18. The distribution will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. at 615 El Camino Real in Greenfield.
