NEW REC CENTER

SOLEDAD — Soledad City Manager Brent Slama announced during the April 21 city council meeting that the city expects to have a “functioning community center” ready by June 15, with summer camps and programming being their first goal for the team under the leadership of a new recreation director.


CRAFT KITS

GONZALES — Gonzales Recreation Department will provide free Cinco De Mayo activity kits starting this week, with kits available for free at city hall, 147 Fourth St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Crafts are first-come, first-served and limited quantities are available.


MONTHLY LUNCHEON

KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly luncheon meeting Tuesday, May 4, 11:30 a.m., at Wildhorse Cafe, 50630 Mesa Verde Road, in King City. The guest speaker will be Stephen Frank, publisher and senior editor for the California Political News and Views, one of the largest online conservative newsletters in the state.
