KING CITY — A King City Community Recycling Event will take place Saturday, April 23, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St. Accepted items include mattresses, appliances, yard waste, electronics, metals, furniture and tires. No commercial dumping nor trash will be accepted.

POETRY CONTEST
MONTEREY COUNTY — The Heinrich Team, a Monterey Peninsula real estate firm, is calling all local Monterey County poets for the team’s 2022 Poetry Contest for school-age youth, which is now open for submissions. Youth can enter by submitting a copy of their original poem and contact information — name, email, phone and street address — to [email protected]. Deadline for submissions is Monday, April 25, and winners will be notified at the end of the month.

KING CITY — King City in Bloom will host a cleanup event on Saturday, April 23, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Volunteers will meet at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St., to pick up gloves and bags. Free coffee and donuts will be available.
