KING CITY — Salinas Valley Fair has announced that this year’s Fair theme is “Barnyard May-Ham,” suggested by James Hinkle of King City.

Hinkle is a sophomore at Palma High School and president of King City Rural 4-H Club.

The 16-year-old said he submitted the idea after thinking of animals at the fair and “ham” came to mind, along with the fair being in May.

His theme was brought to life by artist Joe Botts, and the original poster was highlighted and auctioned off at the Fair Kick-Off on April 15.

The 79th annual Salinas Valley Fair is scheduled for May 18-21 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City.
