Susan Gale (Marsland) Douglas, 66, of King City, Calif. passed away peacefully in her home after a brief battle with cancer.

The third of four children, Susan was born September 11, 1952 in San Mateo to Howard Irvin and Patricia Colemore (Corey) Marsland. The family moved to King City shortly after and Susan remained a proud resident for life. In 1973 Susan was married to the love of her life, Malcolm William Douglas on June 10th in Carson City, Nevada. The happy couple gave birth to their only daughter, Katie Douglas in 1988.

Susan worked on base at Fort Hunter Liggett as well as for a winery in Gonzales for many years until she found her true calling, teaching. At 50 years young she graduated with her bachelors and began her beloved career within King City’s schools.

Preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Patricia Marsland, her brother, George Marsland, her husband, Malcolm Douglas, Susan left behind her daughter Katie Douglas, her niece Corey (Kevin) Malcolm and their children Ryder, Gage and Leslee, her brother Michael (Candy) Marsland and their daughter Amy Papciac, her sister, Alyson (Ray) Creech as well as numerous other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday June 19th from 5-7 at Santa Lucia Masonic Lodge 421 Broadway in King City. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Santa Lucia Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund.
