Ivan “Bud” Gilbert Zahler, 92 formerly of Greenfield passed away on October 7, 2018 in Sacramento. Ivan was born February 7, 1926 in Savannah, Georgia.

Bud was an avid reader and enjoyed good food, laughing, travel (internationally), music, plus good spirited debates and conversations.

Bud was a WWII Veteran having served in the U.S. Marines obtaining the rank of Corporal and was a member of the 29th Marine Regiment.

He obtained a B.A. in Business at the University of Miami, Florida and a Divinity Degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. He became a Southern Baptist Preacher and then started a career in teaching. He taught grade school with the Greenfield Elementary School District.Bud was married to Dorothy Zahler for 42 years. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and internationally.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in King City for many years and was actively involved in leading bible study. He was faithful to God’s work throughout his life, supporting missions and groups that spread the love of Christ.

He is survived by his daughters, Cyndee (Bob) Anthony, Sharon Archibald, Karen (Leland) Nunes, Valerie (Kenny) Reed; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Zahler and his second wife of 13 years, Eleanor Zahler also his son, Keith Zahler.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Eddington Funeral Services Chapel, 429 Bassett St. in King City. Interment with military honors will follow in King City District Cemetery.
