KING CITY — A long awaited grand opening will take place this Friday at the King City Recreation Center on 401 Division St. as the King City Boxing Club will unveil its new boxing gym from 5 to 7 p.m.

“We are very happy to be opening our gym,” said King City and San Ardo Boxing Club coach Rodolfo Tapia. “For the grand opening we will be having demonstrations going on in the ring, including many of our younger fighters showing what they are learning. We expect to have a good crowd show up and we have invited many people from community to attend.”

This Saturday Kevin Perez (130 pounds), Garrett Mitchell (165), and eight-year-old Ivan Almanza  at 53 pounds will fight at the Kendall Boxing Club in San Leandro. Fights will begin at 2 p.m.
