MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Historical Society invites residents and visitors of the Monterey Bay region to a vibrant and unforgettable afternoon of music, heritage and community on Saturday, June 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the historic Boronda Adobe History Center in Salinas.

Titled “Xochi Cuicatl – Flower Songs & Flor y Canto,” this special event features a concert by the internationally acclaimed trio Christopher, Yolanda and Alegría Garcia, presenting Amerindian and Mesoamerican Flower Songs.

Through traditional indigenous percussion, breath and string instruments and poetic storytelling, the Garcias breathe life into ancestral music traditions from Mexico and Central America — honoring a rich cultural tapestry that spans centuries.

Alongside the concert, guests can explore the Boronda Adobe, the Lagunita Schoolhouse, the Heirloom Botanic Garden and the society’s museum collections.

“We are honored to share the history and beauty of our unique site, and thrilled to host this powerful musical and cultural experience,” said James Perry, executive director of the Monterey County Historical Society. “It’s a day for all ages — rooted in tradition and open to all.”

The event is free to the public, with donations accepted to support future community programming.

Boronda Adobe History Center is located at 333 Boronda Road in Salinas. Call 831-757-8085 or visit mchsmuseum.com for more information.
