MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Elections Department is offering a series of community-based early voting opportunities across the county ahead of the June 2 primary election.

The “Books & Ballots” initiative, launched in partnership with local libraries and community sites, will allow residents to vote in person, drop off completed ballots and conditionally register to vote at neighborhood locations throughout Monterey County.

County elections officials said the program is intended to make voting more convenient and accessible for residents by bringing election services directly into communities.

The early voting centers will operate on the following dates and locations:

  • May 19 — Gonzales Library, 630 Fifth St., Gonzales, from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • May 20 — Soledad Library, 401 Gabilan Drive, Soledad, from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • May 21 — Greenfield Library, 315 El Camino Real, Greenfield, from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • May 22 — King City Library, 402 Broadway St., King City, from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • May 26 — Carmel Valley Library, 65 W. Carmel Valley Road, Carmel Valley, from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • May 27 — CVS at Prunetree Shopping Center, 17579 Vierra Canyon Road, Salinas, from 2 to 6 p.m.
  • May 28 — Big Sur Library, Highway 1 at Ripplewood Resort, Big Sur, from 3 to 6 p.m.
  • May 29 — Pajaro Community Park, next to the Bookmobile at 24 San Juan Road, Pajaro, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Elections Department encouraged eligible voters to take advantage of the early voting opportunities before Election Day.
