KING CITY — Mee Memorial Healthcare System has added a new SCENARIA View 128 CT system, expanding the King City hospital’s diagnostic imaging capabilities and allowing South Monterey County residents to access advanced vascular and cardiac imaging closer to home.
The new technology is part of Mee Memorial’s Diagnostic Imaging and Emergency Department renovation project.
The CT system uses a 0.35-second scan speed and 0.625-millimeter thin-slice imaging to produce detailed images of vascular structures while helping reduce radiation dose and contrast use, according to the healthcare system.
“Bringing this new technology to Mee Memorial is about providing the best possible care to our community,” said Timothy Watson, director of Radiology Services. “This new CT machine allows for both faster and more accurate diagnoses, which is essential to our goal of providing the best care possible for our patients, all while greatly expanding the clinical services and capabilities available for both emergent and non-emergent conditions.”
The new system will be used to evaluate a range of conditions, including acute stroke, aneurysms and arterial blockages, ruptures and tears. It also adds cardiac imaging capabilities, including coronary artery angiography and cardiac calcium scoring.
Other new capabilities include virtual colonoscopy, bone density analysis and orthopedic hardware assessments using metal artifact reduction technology.
In addition, the scanner features an updated design to accommodate larger and taller patients, pediatric-specific protocols intended to minimize radiation doses and interventional guidance software with a tilting gantry.
The SCENARIA View 128 also includes AI-enhanced image reconstruction, CT-guided biopsy support and advanced 3D visualization and post-processing capabilities designed to improve image quality and diagnostic confidence.
Mee Memorial said the addition strengthens its effort to expand access to specialty and high-tech medical care in South Monterey County.
