SALINAS — Track and field athletes from King City and Gonzales High School competed Saturday in the North Salinas Invitational and Relays Meet at North Salinas High School in Salinas. The meet included teams from the tri-county area, San Luis Obispo, and Firebaugh from the Central Valley.

Alisal High School won the varsity boys division with 132 points and North Salinas placed second with 90 points. Other placing teams were: North Monterey County 54; Firebaugh 39; Pacific Grove 28; King City 24; Gonzales 22; Mission College Prep 20; St. Francis Central Catholic 18; Everett Alvarez 15; Watsonville 10, York 8.

North Monterey County won the frosh-soph boys division with 151 points, followed by North Salinas with 81 points. Rounding out the frosh-soph boys division were: Alisal 70; King City 56; Gonzales 42; Everett Alvarez 38; Firebaugh 27; St. Francis Central Catholic 12; Harbor 9; York 2, Mission College Prep 1, Pacific Grove 1.

The North Monterey girls won the varsity girls division with 84 points. Alisal High placed second with 80 points. Other placing teams were: North Salinas 56; Mission College Prep 48; King City 47; Firebaugh 34; Everett Alvarez 24; St. Francis Central Catholic 20; Pacific Grove 16; Anzar 10; Watsonville 8; Realm Charter 8; Monterey 6, Gonzales 1.

The host North Salinas Vikings won the frosh-soph girls division with 173 points, with Alisal in second with 65 points. King City High finished in third place with 60 points and North Monterey County finished fourth with 55 points. The rest of the frosh-soph girls division was: Pajaro Valley 26; Gonzales 22; Mission College Prep 17; Harbor 16; Everett Alvarez 8; Pacific Grove 6; Firebaugh 2.

Medals were handed out to the top six competitors in each division. Earning varsity boys medals for King City were: Ismael Rocha, fourth in the 110 hurdles 18.4; Isidro Cabrera, third in the shot put 41-2 and second in the discus at 120-4; Ismael Rocha, fourth in the pole vault 9-7 and fourth in the 110 hurdles 18.4, and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 47.1.

Placing for the Gonzales varsity boys were: Ulysses Fierros, first in the 400 in 55.2; Jossue Valdez, fifth in the 400 in 1:02; third in the Sprint Medley Relay in 1:49 with the team of Jorge Manriquez, Hernan Mojica, Damian Acosta, and Ulysses Fierros.

Placing for the King City frosh-soph boys were: Felipe Cruz, fourth in the 400 59.7; Jhames Bautista, first in the 65 hurdles in 10.3 and second in the 300 hurdles 46.6; Dominic Conricode, fourth in the 65 hurdles 11.2 and fifth in the 300 hurdles 51.2; 4 x 100 relay team of Dylan Oliveros, Cesar Chavez, Carson Roylance, Bryce McEwen, fourth place in 50.2; 4 x 400 relay team of Luis Briseno, Felipe Cruz, Jhames Bautista, Bryce McEwen, fourth place in 4:12; Kyras Headley, sixth place in the shot put 39-9 and third in the discus 98-1; Jose Santos, fifth in the high jump in 4-8.

Placing for the Gonzales frosh-soph boys were: the Sprint Medley Relay team of Jacob Amador, Luis Sainz, Xavier Jimenez, and Nathan Perez that placed fourth in 1:49.2; Pablo Villasenor, first in the shot put in 48-10 and second in the discus 108-9.

In the varsity girls division, placers for King City were: Cali Murillo, fourth in the 100 hurdles in 20.1 and second in the 300 hurdles in 53.6; Elizabeth Bryant placed second in the 100 hurdles in 19.4 and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 57.3; Stephanie Politron, sixth in the shot put in 25-8 and fifth in the discus in 78-0; Delaney Carroll, second in the high jump 4-2 and third in the long jump 12-6. Bianca Sanchez placed sixth in the triple jump for Gonzales with a best of 26-5.

For the King City frosh-soph girls Kajar Rodgers placed fourth in the 100 in 14.0; the 4 x 100 relay team of Rodgers, Nancy Andrade, Grace Shepherd, and Jalen Mendez placed second in 55.2; Shepherd placed second in the discus with a best of 78-3 and fifth in the long jump in 12-4; Andrade placed first in the high jump in 4-6 and first in the long jump in 15-0; Mendez placed second in the triple jum at 29-1, Shepherd placed third in the triple jump in 29-0, and Bella Rava placed fourth in the triple jump in 28-0.

Gonzales High placers in the frosh-soph division were: Isabel Mendoza, first in the 400 in 1:15; Jazmin Useda, fifth in the 1600 in 6:04 and third in the 800 in 2:43; the Sprint Medley Relay team of Mendoza, Madisyn Schweitzer, Maria Lopez, and Athena Landeros placed fourth in a time of 2:13.
