To the Editor:

The first time I experienced the highly skilled and professional services of the Mee Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, it was all my fault. I had dumped my motorcycle out on Oasis Road and literally left my Shakespearean “pound of flesh” on the roadway.

Battered and bleeding, I expected to wait hours to be seen by a doctor but was immediately treated when they saw my pitiful condition. Since then, due to advancing age and declining health, I have been back to that facility three more times.

Never have I had to wait more than 15 minutes to be evaluated by a physician. I hope the majority of folks living in South Monterey County appreciate the quality of care offered by this outstanding department and its highly trained and professional staff.

While some rural areas in this country suffer from the lack of readily available health care, we in the King City area should thank our lucky stars that such care is right on our doorstep and available 24/7.
