To the Editor:

About this time each year our national media will start reminiscing about the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. And like others, I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard what happened on the streets of Dallas, Texas. I too thought highly of the President then.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., Lee Harvey Oswald was confronted by officer J.D. Tippit of the Dallas Police Department. Oswald immediately murdered him by firing four bullets into his chest and one bullet to his head; and thus left a hole in the lives of his loved ones.

A young man who served and protected his fellow countrymen. His death tore a terrible wound into the hearts of his family and friends. He died going forward.

Most of the media does not bother to remember what happened to officer J.D. Tippit. Officer J.D. Tippit will not be forgotten by his family or his friends, nor will I.
