Leslie Plaskett Merrill passed away on August 3, 2017, in the loving embrace of her family. She was born in King City, CA and later moved to the Monterey Peninsula.  Leslie loved her life overlooking the bay with the love of her life, her husband Scott.  She enjoyed taking big ocean walks and watching the seals and otters play outside their window.  Leslie loved watching Scott teach martial arts at Monterey Sports Center and was so happy to be Mrs. Sensei.  She and Scott enjoyed their vacations in Lake Tahoe, where they had spent their honeymoon, and returned every year.  A talented stylist, Leslie took wonderful care of her clients and valued their friendship greatly.  She adored her children and grandchildren and cherished time spent with family. 

Leslie’s joyful and vibrant spirit was beloved to those who knew her, and her bravery and grace in fighting her illness was an inspiration to all.  She lives in our hearts, always, our beautiful brown-eyed girl.

Leslie is survived by her loving husband, Scott Merrill;  her children, Sean Grega (Nicole) and Gabrielle Mayfield;  her grandchildren Bradley Lamadrid and Levi Grega;  her stepchildren Robert Merrill, Jovi Merrill, Aileen Jones and six step grandchildren;  her mother, Carol Perkins;  her stepmother, Barbara Plaskett;  her sister, Lisa Plaskett Lasnick (Randy), her brother Mark Plaskett (Julie), her brother, Peter Iverson (Kristin) and her sister, Jennifer Plaskett Burnes (Matt).  Leslie was predeceased by her father, Gordon Plaskett.   

A memorial service to celebrate Leslie’s life will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1 Forest Knoll Rd. Monterey, CA from 11:00 – 12:00, with reception to follow.

A second memorial will be held on will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Eddington Funeral Services Chapel, 429 Bassett St. King City, CA.  Visitation will be from 11:00 – 11:45 and graveside service from 12:00 – 1:00, with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the Charity of your choice.
