King City VFW supports Project Hero cyclists

KING CITY — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6747 King City hosted 35 veterans and five first responders and their road crew riding in their Project Hero 2023 cycling event on Oct. 17.

The VFW provided them with changing facilities, food and drinks, and the VFW Auxiliary provided home-baked cookies.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars District 12, Post 6747 King City and Post 6359 San Juan Bautista donated $1,300 to Project Hero.

The Project Hero cyclists were riding their bicycles from Santa Cruz to Oxnard on their 2023 California Challenge, which is a multi-day special event within Project Hero’s Ride 2 Recovery Cycling Program.

Project Hero is dedicated to helping veterans and first responders affected by PTSD, TBI and injury achieve rehabilitation, recovery and resilience in their daily lives. Its mission is to change the way America deals with what has become a mental health epidemic among those who have served our communities and our nation.
