KING CITY — The City of King is reminding the community about its current fireworks regulations.

Fireworks may only be discharged from noon on June 28 through 10 p.m. on July 4. Only safe and sane fireworks purchased from permitted fireworks stands are allowed. All other fireworks are prohibited at all times.

“Illegal fireworks can cause injury, fires and disturbance to residents and animals,” the City said in a news release.

As a result of concerns received from the community, the King City Council increased fines for the illegal discharge of fireworks in 2019. The fine is now $1,000 per fireworks-related violation.

King City Police Department is actively patrolling and enforcing these violations. Anyone with information on individuals or locations discharging illegal fireworks is encouraged to contact King City Police Dispatch at 831-385-8311.

“The City of King requests everyone to celebrate July 4 in a safe manner, follow City restrictions and be respectful of others,” the City said.

Contact City Hall at 831-385-3281 or visit the City’s website www.kingcity.com for more information on the fireworks ordinance.
