KING CITY — Four teachers from the King City Union School District have been recognized for their teaching excellence by their schools.

The teachers chosen were: Annette Zambrano of Del Rey Elementary; Lorraine Ramirez of Santa Lucia Elementary; Michelle Kelley of King City Arts Magnet; and Angel Reed of Chalone Peaks Middle School.

Zambrano is a reading intervention teacher and has taught for 19 years. She will represent the King City Union School District as a candidate for the Monterey County Teacher of the Year.

Ramirez, a Gonzales resident, is a reading intervention teacher as well, and has taught for 22 years. She will be retiring as a full-time teacher at the end of the school year.

Kelley is also a reading intervention teacher and has taught for 17 years. Reed is an eighth-grade Language Arts teacher and has taught for 14 years.

The Monterey County Teacher of the Year will be announced later this month.
