KING CITY — King City High School was among many schools in the area that passed out free, take-home rapid Covid-19 tests for students earlier this month.

The high school hosted a drive-thru distribution for the tests on Jan. 6 at the Broadway Street parking lot.

With rising case rates throughout the state, Monterey County Office of Education recently received 75,600 tests from the California Department of Public Health to distribute among its 24 school districts returning from winter break.

According to MCOE Superintendent Deneen Guss, the tests were voluntary and offered to “reassure parents, students and staff that they were starting a safe new semester.”
