KING CITY — An additional arrest and more criminal charges have been made in connection with the murder of two residents last month in King City.

According to the King City Police Department, gunshots were reported Dec. 26 at 1:22 p.m. in the area of Sussex Way and Wellington Avenue, where officers found a male and a female dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Unit has since determined that one of the victims, 18-year-old Selena Gonzalez Godoy of King City, was more than eight weeks pregnant at the time she was murdered. The other victim was 20-year-old Carlos Manuel Lopez Sanchez, also from King City.

Through investigative efforts, police arrested one of the suspects — 20-year-old Raul Omar Lucas of Salinas — on Dec. 29 for two counts of homicide. Lucas has now received an additional murder charge due to Godoy’s unborn child.

Another suspect, 28-year-old Rocio Villa Vasquez Martinez of Salinas, who was arrested Dec. 27 on various weapon charges as well as aiding and abetting in the murder of the victims, has also received an additional count.

On Jan. 14, at about 10 a.m., King City detectives contacted a third suspect, 19-year-old Guillermo Becerra of Salinas, after “developing probable cause he was involved in the commission of the murders,” police said. Becerra was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on three counts of homicide.

King City Police is continuing its efforts to locate a fourth suspect, 19-year-old Elizar Ayron Arellano of King City, who is considered armed and dangerous.

“If members of the public know the whereabouts of Arellano, they are asked to not attempt to contact Arellano, as he is considered armed and dangerous, and instead contact the King City Police Department at 831-755-5111 and advise them they believe they have seen Arellano, the location and time where they saw Arellano, a description of Arellano’s clothing and any vehicle that may be related to him,” police said.

In addition, King City Police announced they have determined there is one additional suspect involved in the murder case, but no other details were released.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” police said.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or who may know associates of Arellano, Lucas or Becerra is asked to contact Sgt. John Dow of KCPD at 831-386-5988 or [email protected]; or call the anonymous WeTip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
