KING CITY — King City Police Department has arrested a man in connection with multiple burglaries around town.

On July 13, at about 3:48 a.m., local officers responded to Mee Memorial Hospital on a report of a subject walking on the roof. When police arrived, the subject was spotted running from the hospital toward Franciscan Drive.

“A perimeter was established, and during a search of the area the subject was located and apprehended hiding in a large dumpster on hospital property,” police said in a news release.

The subject, identified as 20-year-old Richard Silva of King City, was arrested and later booked into Monterey County Jail on numerous charges, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property and trespassing.

As a result of additional investigation, officers were able to positively identify Silva as a suspect in burglaries that occurred at the La Michocana Ice Cream Shop in the 1300 block of Broadway Street and Grace Lutheran Church in the 200 block of Canal Street.
