King City Police arrest 2 for battery, gang activity

KING CITY — Officers from the King City Police Department and deputy sheriffs from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office responded to a physical fight involving multiple subjects in the 1000 block of Broadway Street on Aug. 30 at about 7:22 p.m.

A group of juveniles matching the description of the subjects was located and detained, as well as an adult female who was standing nearby. The investigation determined that an adult female victim had been battered by two of the subjects who were being detained by officers.

“Prior to the battery, the suspects approached the victim and questioned her about her gang affiliation,” police said in a news release. “As a result of the battery, the victim sustained multiple injuries.”

Nina Marie Zuniga, 27, of King City, was arrested for battery with serious bodily injury, gang enhancements and eight outstanding arrest warrants. Zuniga was booked into the Monterey County Jail.

A 16-year-old female resident of King City was also arrested for battery with serious bodily injury, gang enhancements and violation of probation. She was booked into the Monterey County Juvenile Hall.
