KING CITY — King City Police Department has arrested one suspect involved with an attempted carjacking and assault Wednesday night, while a second suspect remains at large.
On Sept. 28 at about 6:46 p.m., King City officers met with the victim at the local police station, where he told them that he had been struck by two subjects who attempted to carjack him in the 100 block of S. Vanderhurst Avenue.
After speaking with the officers, the victim was taken to a local hospital for injuries he suffered during the incident.
“King City officers reviewed city surveillance and were able to gather additional information pertaining to the description of the two suspects,” police said in a news release Thursday.
At about 7:36 p.m., an officer was conducting an area check for the two suspects when he spotted someone who matched one of their descriptions.
The subject, identified as Santos Andres Chairez, 27, of King City, was arrested on charges for attempted carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a deadly weapon. He was later booked into the Monterey County Jail.
The other suspect has not been located.
